That said, when all the demon team was arriving, one mentioned that all the humans were weaklings... but shouldn't they all be at the same level of peak 6? I guess it's just typical douche smack talk

They are the same level but you have to understand level doesn't fully equal power. It gives a good baseline of how strong an individual is, however, a person can be powerful enough to beat someone a level higher then them, two even. So just as a person at Level 6 can be stronger then an average level 6, a person can also be weaker then an average level 6 based on skills and other feats they have achieved.

The demons themselves are blessed with a lot and are much stronger then the average human of the same level. This among their numbers is why the human's seem to be struggling. Plus their leader is just overall much more powerful then anyone on the human side. It's understandable that they gloat and think highly of themselves. But that itself will also be their downfall as they are dealing with the MC who is also stronger then the average person their level.
